In the district championship game Deckerville upset Ubly 10-7. Deckerville managed 10 runs on 5 hits, while Ubly managed 7 runs on 12 hits. Ubly however had 5 errors, with the biggest coming in the 3rd inning as Deckerville loaded the bases on an error and hit a grand slam. "That was huge for them! We (Mitch Cleary) just got done hitting a 3 run homer then to come out and play poor defense and allow them to take the momentum and the lead- is just frustrating." Said Coach Becker. Ubly then added a couple more runs but the story remained the same for Ubly's defense as they surrendered several runs on critical errors. "I give Deckerville a lot of credit, Coach Noble has put in a lot of work and effort into his program, but we allowed 8 unearned runs in the ballgame. You aint gonna beat anybody playing that poorly in the field.
