The Holly Bronchos softball team scored 10 points and limited the host Powers Catholic Chargers to 9 in the Bronchos non-league triumph on Thursday.

With the triumph, Holly improves its record to 1-3 on the year. The Bronchos travel to Swartz Creek (Swartz Creek, MI) to clash with the Dragons in a Flint Metro game on Thursday, April 26. The Dragons come into the game with a record of 2-1.

In their next game, the Chargers clash with the Carman-Ainsworth Cavaliers (Flint, MI) in a Big Nine game, on Monday, April 23. Powers Catholic will attempt to improve on its 6-7 season record.

Powers lost the 2nd game of the double header to Holly in extra innings at dusk. Using the International tie-breaker rule, Holly had nobody out with a runner on 2nd. The first batter hit a fly-out to the first base, the second batter put down a sacrifice bunt to move the runner to third. Then a past ball brought in what would be the winning run as the the third batter hit a ground out to short. Powers looked like they were going to answer as the first batter was safe on a bunt that moved their runner to third, then a stolen base put runners at second and third with no outs. The second batter put down a bunt but a great heads up play by the Holly pitcher got the runner at third in a run-down. The runner at second attempt to steal third on the next pitch and was caught. Powers third batter for the inning went down swinging, thus giving Holly the victory.
