Max Elofson has been named player of the year. "Max, a Mpls. Washburn Sr. outfielder-pitcher, batted .483 during the regular season with 5 2Bs, 2 3Bs and 3 HRs. In addition, he threw a 4 hit shutout against Minnehaha Academy, that was the #1 ranked team in AA at the time. In a 1st round section game on 5/27/16, Max went 3 for 4 with a 1B, a 2B, and a HR. In his 3 years on the Washburn varsity, Max has continued to improve each year, batting .294 as a soph, .406 as a jr, and as a sr. is hitting .500 (regular season sections) at the time of this comment. Max also plays soccer where he was the goalie on the 3rd place finisher in the large state tournament. He will be attending Humber University in Toronto, Ontario in the fall where he will play baseball in addition to his studies. The coaching staff has been very happy to have had Max play at Washburn and they wish him the best of luck in the coming years."
