Orono Spartans (Long Lake, MN) backers exited the stadium thrilled Thursday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Waconia Wildcats (Waconia, MN), 3-1 in a league challenge.

The Spartans now own a 14-1 record. They take the field next when they host Holy Family Catholic for a non-league challenge on Friday, May 11. Orono will battle a Fire squad coming off a 5-2 non-league loss to Mound-Westonka (Mound, MN). The Fire record now stands at 11-3.

With the loss, Waconia falls to 9-4 on the campaign. The Wildcats travel to Annandale (Annandale, MN) to battle the Cardinals in a Wright County challenge on Friday, May 11. The Cardinals enter the challenge with a record of 7-7. Annandale won 19-12 in their recent league challenge against Glencoe-Silver Lake (Glencoe, MN)
