The Canton Tigers crushed the visiting Highland Cougars baseball team by a tally of 11-3 in Monday's non-league bout.

The Tigers now hold a 9-5 record. They take the field next when they travel to Brashear for a non-league bout on Friday, May 10.

Next, the Cougars face the Macon Tigers (Macon, MO) in a Clarence Cannon bout, on Tuesday, May 7. Highland will attempt to advance on its 3-10 season record.

The Canton Tigers used a big third inning to defeat Highland 11-3 and end the Cougars two game winning streak. The Cougars scored 2 in the first highlighted by Greg Garner taking off from 3rd base making the Canton pitcher balk giving the Cougars 1-0 lead. Chris Sparks had a fielder's choice to score Jack Neisen giving the Cougars a 2-0 lead. The Tigers used good hitting, solid pitching, and a strong defense to stifle the Cougar offense. Canton scored 6 runs in the third to braek the game wide open. The highlight of the inning was a 2 run double for Reese Carmichael, who finished the day 3-4 with 4 RBI's. Highland scored their final run of the day on a bases loaded walk to Blake Carlin. Austin Hoewing picked up the win for the Tigers and Dakota Sparks took the loss for the Cougars.
