The Kickapoo Chiefs (Springfield, MO) volleyball overcame the host Parkview Vikings (Springfield, MO), 2-0 in Thursday's league outing.

With the win, Kickapoo advances its record to 16-4 on the campaign. The Chiefs host Jefferson City (Jefferson City, MO) to clash with the Jays in a non-league match on Tuesday, October 5. The Jays come into the match with a record of 4-9. Jefferson City lost 2-0 in their recent non-league match against Fatima (Westphalia, MO)

With the loss, Parkview drops to 3-3 on the campaign. The Vikings host Reeds Spring (Reeds Spring, MO) to clash with the Wolves in a non-league match on Monday, October 4. The Wolves come into the match with a record of 11-6. Reeds Spring won 2-0 in their recent league match against Buffalo (Buffalo, MO)

On Thursday, the Chiefs showcased their all-around team style with a 25-17, 25-16 Ozark Conference win at Parkview. Parkview trailed early in the opening game (7-2), but cut the Kickapoo lead to three points on three separate occasions (with 18-15 being the last) before Chiefs sophomores Emily Thater and Maris Below finished off game one. Thater, a 6-foot-3 middle blocker, had two kills and two blocks as Kickapoo began to pull away. It was Below's block-kill that ended the first set."Emily and Maris have some great leaders ahead of them that are giving them the confidence to just go all out and be stat leaders on the floor," Downs said. Juniors Kinsey McCarter and Jessica Maurer had five kills each to lead Kickapoo (16-4, 3-1 OC). McCarter also had a team-high 11 assists. Senior Taylor Carmichael led the Chiefs with 14 digs and Thater ended with three blocks.
