In Saturday's non-league contest, the Independence Wildcats (Independence, MS) softball team held off the host Senatobia Warriors (Senatobia, MS), by a margin of 2-1.

With the triumph, Independence moves its record to 11-5 on the year. The Wildcats host North Pontotoc (Ecru, MS) to play the Vikings in a 3A Region 2 contest on Tuesday, April 12. The Vikings come into the contest with a record of 14-5.

In their next game, the Warriors play the Pontotoc Warriors (Pontotoc, MS) in a 4A Region 2 contest, on Tuesday, April 12. Senatobia will attempt to move on its 9-6 season record. The Warriors come into the contest with a 7-5 record after their 7-3 league loss to New Albany (New Albany, MS).
