Purvis Tornadoes (Purvis, MS) backers exited the stadium thrilled Saturday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Picayune Maroon Tide (Picayune, MS), 7-5 in a non-league challenge.

The Tornadoes now own a 5-4 record. They take the field next when they travel to Pearl River Central for a non-league challenge on Saturday, March 3. Purvis will battle a Blue Devils squad coming off a 2-0 non-league loss to Wayne County (Waynesboro, MS). The Blue Devils record now stands at 1-7.

With the loss, Picayune falls to 2-3 on the campaign. The Maroon tide host St. Patrick (Biloxi, MS) to face the Fighting Irish in a non-league challenge on Tuesday, March 6. The Fighting Irish enter the challenge with a record of 1-2. St. Patrick won 5-4 in their recent non-league challenge against Harrison Central (Gulfport, MS)
