Ronan Chiefs (Ronan, MT) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad nip the visiting Polson Pirates (Polson, MT), 47-44 in a league bout.
With the win, Ronan upgrades its record to 9-5 on the season. The Chiefs travel to Bigfork (Bigfork, MT) to play the Vikings in a A Northwestern bout on Friday, February 13. The Vikings go into the bout with a record of 2-11.
Next up, the Pirates play the Lincoln County Lions (Eureka, MT) in a non-league bout, on Tuesday, February 10. Polson will attempt to upgrade on its 6-7 season record. The Lions go into the bout with a 3-12 record after their 57-48 non-league loss to Plains (Plains, MT).

Fisher hit 4 of 5 free throws in the final two minutes and scored eight of his team-high 15 points in the fourth quarter to help Ronan secure the victory. Polson missed a 3-pointer in the closing seconds that would have tied the game. The Chiefs improved to 2-4 in league, 9-5 overall. Polson dropped to 4-3, 7-7. Ronan trailed most of the game and was behind by seven with three minutes to play before storming back behind a full-court defense that forced four critical Polson turnovers in the final two minutes.
