Stephen Gilmore has been named player of the year. "Senior Stephen Gilmore (LHP, CF) has started for the First Assembly Christian School Eagles varsity since 8th grade. This year he was 5-3 (1 save) and 2 no-decisions on the hill for the Eagles. In 61 innings work, he recorded 106 strikeouts while giving up only 42 hits and ending with a 1.72 ERA. He batted .365 (3 triples, 6 doubles - while only striking out twice in 75 plate appearances). For his 5-year varsity career, Stephen threw 208 innings, racking up over 320 strikeouts, career batting average of .352 with 86 hits in 85 games played. He was a 3-time MAC all-conference and 2-time NCISAA (2A) all-state selection. IF we could do a Co-Player-of-the-Year - senior Zac Cantadore would be it ! - lead us in hitting .457 average, hits (32), doubles (7), on-base% .512, slugging% .600 and second in RBI (18), second in runs scored (20). These 2 seniors were key to FACS winning their first MAC conference tournament game since 2007 and getting (and winning round 1 game) to the NCISAA (2A) state playoffs for the first time since 2003.
