    Zy'Lee Bazemore has been named player of the year. "Zy'Lee was the lone senior that played during the season. He developed a leadership mentality and was the heart of the what we did on offense. Zy'Lee had a truly great season and led the team to the Regional Championship game. It was the first time since 1970, that Bertie had reached that particular game and that deep in the state playoffs. Bertie finished co-champions of the regular season in the Four Rivers Conference. Zy'Lee was awarded the conference Player of the Year. Bertie capped the regular season with a Four Rivers Conference Tournament Championship. The team finished the season with a 26-5 record, which was a huge turn-around from the 9-15 record of the previous year. Zy'Lee will be missed at Bertie High School, but we all know his future is bright as he moves to the next level."
