Ashley Smetter

Ashley Smetter has been named player of the year. "Congratulations, Ashley Smetter, the Lincoln Southwest Player of the Year! Ashley was an ideal lead-off hitter, combining a the ability to get on base with power, speed, and clutch hitting. She was the teams' leader, our most consistent player, and one who came through in crucial times often throughout the season. She is also an excellent defensive player at second base, with only two errors on the season. She was recognized as First Team NFCA All-Region 1, the Class A Honorary Captain of the All Nebraska by the Omaha World-Herald, First Team Super State by the Lincoln Journal Star for the second year, and Most Outstanding Player by her teammates. Ashley has signed to play with the University of Nebraska next year."

She lad the team and Class A in Runs (59), Hits (77) and Doubles (19- an all-time school record). She stole 26 bases, and is an excellent =-fielding second baseman. She was voted Most Outstanding Player by her teammates, and was named First Team Super State by the Lincoln Journal Star, ranking her as one of the top 15 players in the state. Ashley is also a top student, with a 3.9 gpa."
