You can't lose the matchup if you win every quarter, and that was precisely the Mountain Ridge Miners's strategy against the Northern Huskies on Friday. Mountain Ridge strolled past Northern with points to spare, taking the game 49-34. The victory was familiar territory for Mountain Ridge who now have three in a row.
Leading Mountain Ridge to victory were Ian Duncan and Cameron Breighner. Duncan scored 12 points along with seven rebounds, while Breighner scored 16 points along with two steals and two blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Cobe Penick, who scored four points along with three steals.
Mountain Ridge has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season. As for Northern, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season.
Mountain Ridge will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Allegany at 7:00 p.m. Allegany knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 14 matches -- so hopefully Mountain Ridge likes a good challenge. As for Northern, they will head out on the road to face off against Rockwood at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
