Central Fellowship Christian Academy extended their losing streak to four on Thursday, dropping them down to 1-7. They came up short against the Stratford Academy Eagles, falling 17-4. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 9-0 last Thursday.
Central Fellowship Christian Academy saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ella Huddleston, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple marked the first that Huddleston has hit this season. Anna Sweatt was another, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI.
As for Stratford Academy, their win ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-5. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
On Stratford Academy's side, Reagan Ray made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing four innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. Ray has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.
In other batting news, Hayden Craddock and Cordtney Galoia did most of the damage at the plate: Craddock got on base in all four of her plate appearances with five stolen bases, four runs, and two RBI, while Galoia got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those four runs gave Craddock a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Hatsy Russell, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Central Fellowship Christian Academy will face off against Gatewood at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Lancers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Gators have averaged an impressive 11.3 runs per game this season. As for Stratford Academy, they will venture away from home to take on Pinewood Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
