Having just played yesterday, the University City Centurions will jump right back in to play the Olympian Eagles at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.
After some red-hot offensive attacks in their last three games, University City finally came back down to earth on Thursday. They were outmatched by Scripps Ranch on the road and fell 54-23. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points University City has scored all season.
Kaela Martinez put forth a good effort for the losing side as she scored 12 points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, it was a hard-fought game, but Olympian had to settle for a 52-50 loss against Del Norte on Monday. While losing is never fun, Olympian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 238th, while Del Norte is ranked 42nd).
University City's loss dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Olympian, they now have a losing record at 3-4.
University City was dealt a bruising 79-24 loss at the hands of Olympian in their previous matchup back in January of 2022. Thankfully for University City, Jhamiyah Jolly (who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
