After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Lincoln Southwest, the Lincoln East Spartans were happy to have found some success on Saturday. They came out on top against Fremont by a score of 60-48. That 60-48 margin sets a new team best for Lincoln East this season.
Despite the loss, Fremont still got an impressive performance from Matthea Dalton, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 19 rebounds. Those 18 points set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Emma Diers, who scored 14 points.
Lincoln East's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-5. As for Fremont, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-8.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lincoln East will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Lincoln North Star on January 9th. Lincoln North Star will be looking to keep their five-game home win streak alive. As for Fremont, they will head out on the road to face off against Bellevue East at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Bellevue East presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Fremont in Nebraska (Bellevue East is ranked 78th, while Fremont is ranked 203rd).
