San Ramon Valley and Monte Vista are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2021, but likely not for long. The Wolves will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against the Mustangs at 4:00 p.m. San Ramon Valley's pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so Monte Vista's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
If San Ramon Valley beats Monte Vista with five runs on Wednesday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two matchups with that exact score. The Wolves never let California get on the board and left with a 5-0 win on Friday. The victory continues a trend for the Wolves in their matchups with the Grizzlies: they've now won five in a row.
San Ramon Valley got a great performance from Bryce Monte as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over five innings pitched. Monte has become a key player for the Wolves: the team is 4-2 when he allows at most three hits, but 7-8 otherwise.

Meanwhile, Monte Vista fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against College Park on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 7-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Falcons. The defeat continues a trend for the Mustangs in their meetings with the Falcons: they've now lost six in a row.
Monte Vista also got a good showing from Ryan Fraser, who tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. That's the first time Fraser hasn't allowed a single earned run since back in April of 2024.
At the plate, Zane Worth was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two runs. Another player making a difference was Torin Dunphy, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs.
