The Apple Valley Christian Warriors's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They fell 29-16 to Excelsior Charter. Apple Valley Christian lost against Excelsior Charter in their previous head to head back in December of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 46-11 score last time.
When it comes to explaining why Apple Valley Christian lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jocelynn LoPorto. Despite the final result, she scored ten points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points LoPorto has scored all season.
Excelsior Charter got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jazynda Juneau out in front who scored ten points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Juneau has scored at least a third of Excelsior Charter's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Allie Raygor, who scored eight points.
Apple Valley Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Excelsior Charter, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Apple Valley Christian will face off against Academy of Careers & Exploration at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Excelsior Charter, they will head out on the road to square off against Victor Valley Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Victor Valley Christian comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 15 points in their last four games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
