Warren is 0-10 against the Vikings since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Warren Bears will be playing in front of their home fans against the Downey Vikings at 5:15 p.m. Warren has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 30.
Last Friday, Warren suffered a tough 58-37 loss at the hands of the Gladiators.
In what's become a running theme this season, Downey gave their fans yet another huge win on Tuesday. They blew past Gahr 60-37. Given Downey's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 125th, while the Gladiators are ranked 300th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Downey had a senior duo take command as Olivia Vaughn almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine steals and Symantha Barnett dropped a double-double on 12 points and 13 rebounds. Vaughn has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last ten times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Genesis Salinas, who scored nine points along with five assists.
Warren has not been sharp recently as the team's lost nine of their last 11 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-14 record this season. As for Downey, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-12.
Warren took a serious blow against the Vikings in their previous meeting back in January, falling 67-22. The contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Warren was down 35-10.
