Lincoln dropped their record down to 17-7 on Friday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins on the road. They came up short against the Oakmont Vikings, falling 8-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Fighting Zebras have suffered since February 18th.

Landyn Plaut was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two doubles, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Plaut wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Rocco Pipia, who went 1-for-2 with one run.
As for Oakmont, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 21-5. Considering they have won 11 matches by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Like Lincoln, Oakmont also got a great game from a two-way player: Trevor Wilson. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off eight hits (and only one walk). Wilson was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three runs. Those three runs gave him a new career-high.
In other pitching news, CJ Smith looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.
Back at the plate, Cooper Kunis was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Beau Ogles, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
Lincoln and Oakmont should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. The Fighting Zebras (ranked 158th) will meet Valley Christian (ranked 556th) at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, Oakmont will challenge Center at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank advantage (42 vs. 589).
