Newark Memorial is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Tennyson on Thursday as Newark Memorial made off with a 19-0 victory. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Cougars with their most commanding win of the season.
Connor Murphy was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Anthony Medrano was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Brian Covarrubias Jr was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Moreau Catholic, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past El Cerrito 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Mariners have posted since May 8, 2024.
The team relied heavily on Benji Fuentes, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. That stolen base was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Brian Radford, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.
Moreau Catholic has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 3-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. Newark Memorial's record is now 5-2.
Newark Memorial was able to grind out a solid victory over Moreau Catholic in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, winning 6-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for Newark Memorial since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
