After a string of six wins, the Mt. Pleasant Vikings's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They took a 48-36 hit to the loss column at the hands of Greensburg Salem. While losing is never fun, Mt. Pleasant can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 167th, while Greensburg Salem is ranked 50th).
Kaitlyn Mankins continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Greensburg Salem, dropping a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds. Mankins is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last seven games she's played. Another player making a difference was Ashlan Price, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and five assists.
Mt. Pleasant's defeat dropped their record down to 6-2. As for Greensburg Salem, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 9-1.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mt. Pleasant will take on Deer Lakes at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Greensburg Salem, they will be playing at home against Valley at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
