Basketball Recap: Whitney Now 7-1 over Last Eight Games

After losing to Del Oro the last time they met, Whitney decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Whitney Wildcats walked away with a 43-31 victory over the Del Oro Golden Eagles on Wednesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Wildcats.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Whitney to victory, but perhaps none more so than Natalia Benavidez, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds. The dominant performance gave Benavidez a new career-high in boards. Another player making a difference was Tylie Kitchen, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 boards.

Whitney smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in eight consecutive contests.

Whitney is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. As for Del Oro, with the loss, they broke their six-game winning streak and moved their record to 9-6.

Whitney will welcome St. Francis at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Del Oro, they will square off against Rocklin at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Del Oro is facing Rocklin at the right time seeing as Rocklin is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
