Johnson is 1-6 against Cordova since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Johnson Warriors will head out on the road to challenge the Cordova Lancers at 7:30 p.m. Hopefully Johnson focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Monday.
Last Monday, Johnson beat Florin 39-30. The victory was just what Johnson needed coming off of a 63-9 defeat in their prior contest.
Johnson can attribute much of their success to Iris Vang, who scored 17 points, and Timoa Pa'aga, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. Pa'aga hasn't dropped below two blocks for seven straight games.
Meanwhile, Cordova was able to grind out a solid win over Foothill on Tuesday, taking the game 32-19. The win made it back-to-back wins for Cordova.
Johnson now has a winning record of 11-10. As for Cordova, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-13 record this season.
Johnson might still be hurting after the 50-25 loss they got from Cordova when the teams last played back in January. Can Johnson avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
