McCallum hasn't had much luck against Cedar Creek recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The McCallum Knights will host the Cedar Creek Eagles at 7:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
McCallum made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Anderson, but they still couldn't quite topple them. McCallum was the clear victors by a 14-3 margin over Anderson on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Knights, who have now won three matches by 11 runs or more so far this season.
Natalie Myrick made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 13 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Myrick was also big at the plate, going 4-for-5 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple was her first of the season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Grace Yemington, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. That triple marked the first that she hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Lila Brotherton, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-5.
McCallum always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Anderson only posted an OBP of .222.
Meanwhile, Cedar Creek had to endure a 17-game losing streak dating back to last season, but that streak is no more. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 19-18 victory over Navarro on Tuesday. The Eagles' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
A Mata and O Prokop did most of the damage at the plate: Mata went 3-for-6 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI, while Prokop went 4-for-5 with six RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. P Faske was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing Two bases. while going 1-for-3.
The win got McCallum back to even at 4-4. As for Cedar Creek, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-13.
