Softball Recap: Shaler Area Comes Up Short

Shaler Area dropped their record down to 4-3 on Thursday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Franklin Regional Panthers by a score of 13-12. The Titans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Panthers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

As for Franklin Regional, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.5 runs over those games.

For Franklin Regional's part, Toryn Fulton and Ciara Camacho did most of the damage at the plate: Fulton went 3-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and two stolen bases, while Camacho fired off two home runs, four RBI, and one stolen base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Camacho is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last eight games she's played. Another player making a difference was Adrianna Martz, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.

Looking ahead, Shaler Area will face off against Plum at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Franklin Regional, they will square off against Kiski Area at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Cavaliers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.56 runs per game on average), something the Panthers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
