The Fresno Warriors won the last time they faced the Sunnyside Wildcats, and things went their way on Wednesday too. Fresno blew past the Wildcats 58-37. Given Fresno's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 330th, while the Wildcats are ranked 829th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
When it comes to explaining why Sunnyside lost, one person who can't be blamed is Ruby Cartwright. Despite the final result, she scored 20 points along with five steals. Cartwright hasn't dropped below two steals for 22 straight games.
Fresno's win bumped their record up to 17-8. As for Sunnyside, they are on a eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-18.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fresno will take on the Hornets at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Sanger West is no doubt hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for Sunnyside, they will be playing at home against the Toros at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
