The University City Centurions lost against the Mira Mesa Marauders back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. University City ended up on the wrong side of a tough 54-31 walloping at the hands of Mira Mesa. University City has not had much luck with Mira Mesa recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Defeat or not, University City got some senior leadership from Chaya Scott and Bella Giron. Scott scored 11 points along with five rebounds, while Giron. scored nine points along with six rebounds.
It was another big night for Ivorii Seals, who scored 16 points along with eight assists and eight rebounds for Mira Mesa. It was the first time this season that Seals posted eight or more assists. Another player making a difference was Alyssa Otero, who scored 12 points.
University City's defeat dropped their record down to 12-11. As for Mira Mesa, the win (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 15-9.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. University City will stay at home for another game and welcome San Diego at 5:30 p.m. on February 7th. Hopefully University City focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine on Friday. As for Mira Mesa, they will be playing at home against Lincoln at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Mira Mesa is facing Lincoln at the right time seeing as Lincoln is stuck on a 20-game losing streak.
