Los Molinos is a perfect 10-0 against Redding Christian since May of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Bulldogs will venture away from home to face off against the Lions at 4:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Los Molinos barely beat Biggs the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Bulldogs blew past the Wolverines 14-4 on Saturday. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Wolverines recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.
Brody Fimea made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Fimea was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one double.
In other batting news, Jaydin Underwood was a standout: he went 1-for-2 with three runs and two RBI. Kyson Button was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and two runs.
Los Molinos was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. They are 13-2 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Redding Christian). Everything went their way against Chester on Tuesday as they made off with a 21-2 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Lions.
Like Los Molinos, Redding Christian also got a great game from a two-way player: Brodie Ogden. He struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Redding Christian is undefeated when Ogden allows one or fewer earned runs, but 3-5 otherwise. Ogden was even better at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.
In other batting news, Conner Moore was incredible, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, five runs, and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Redding Christian's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 2-5 when he doesn't). Josh Price also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Redding Christian now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Los Molinos, their record is now 16-6.
Los Molinos beat Redding Christian 5-0 in their previous matchup on April 4th. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bulldogs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
