Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Benilde-St. Margaret's Red Knights, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They took a 38-27 hit to the loss column at the hands of North Branch on Thursday. Benilde-St. Margaret's has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
North Branch's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Austin Anderson, who rushed for 179 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 8.1 yards per carry. Tyler Minke was another key contributor, rushing for 118 yards and a touchdown on only 11 carries.
Benilde-St. Margaret's defeat dropped their record down to 6-8. As for North Branch, the victory (which was their 12th in a row) raised their record to 12-1.
Benilde-St. Margaret's does not have any more games scheduled as of now. North Branch will square off against Hutchinson at TBD on Thursday. Hutchinson is coming into the match hot, having won their last eight games.
