Basketball Recap: Workman Makes It Four in a Row at Home

Workman had won three straight home games and Destiny Pelayo did her part to make it four on Tuesday. The Workman Lobos blew past the La Puente Warriors 56-19 thanks in part to Pelayo, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 16 rebounds. She has become a key player for Workman: the team is 4-1 when she posts at least eight boards, but 3-9 otherwise.

Iris Campos was another key player, putting up 12 points and seven steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last ten games she's played.

Workman is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a massive bump to their 7-10 record this season. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to assists: they averaged an imposing 7.6 assists in those games compared to only 7.6 in the others. As for La Puente, their loss dropped their record down to 3-12.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Workman will head out to take on Bassett at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday. Workman is facing Bassett at the right time seeing as Bassett is stuck on a six-game losing streak. La Puente has already played their next game (against Edgewood), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
