The Hughesville Spartans entered their tilt with the Shikellamy Braves with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. Hughesville walked away with a 55-48 victory over Shikellamy on Wednesday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Hughesville also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2022.
Hughesville got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Ava Snyder out in front who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. The matchup was Snyder's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddie Smith, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Hughesville pushed their record up to 5-1 with that win, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.0 points per game. As for Shikellamy, their defeat ended a nine-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 4-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hughesville's road trip will continue as they head out to face Montoursville at 1:30 p.m. on December 23rd. Montoursville will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings (they are ranked 456th, while Hughesville is ranked 109th). As for Shikellamy, they will head out on the road to face off against Bloomsburg at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Bloomsburg will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
