Video: Michael Carmody highlight
Watch the nation's top rebounder throughout his senior season.
Michael Carmody is one of the top senior football players in the country. He's a 6-foot-6, 295-pound offensive tackle at Mars (PA.) who was rated the No. 2 recruit from Pennsylvania, according to 247Sports, good enough that 24 FBS schools offered him a scholarship.
He signed with Notre Dame.
But the Irish may have more than a pass protector on the gridiron. They may have a rebounding force on the hardwood.
Carmody is the nation's leading rebounder for Mars' basketball team, averaging a staggering 19.2 per game to go along with an impressive 18.6 points per game. A look at his video highlights reveals a big, agile body with an appetite to go after the ball. In 19 games, he's grabbed at least 20 rebounds six times, with a high of 26.
He's followed closely on the list by 6-4 Mercy (Red Bluff, Calif.) junior Jordan Curl, who is taking down 19.1 rebounds per game. Also a good scorer (17.3 points per game) and big shot blocker (4.7 per game), Curl has pulled down at least 20 rebounds in 11 of his team's 21 games.
From the list of the country's Top 25 rebounders, 11 are seniors to go along with 10 juniors, two sophomores and two freshmen, a pair of Californians in Martin Gumwell, of Calvin Christian (Escondido) and Ubadi Egeonu, of American Indian (Oakland).
Players from 14 different states are represented in this list, including four each from Florida and California.
