The Tehachapi Warriors had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 37.9 points), and they went ahead and made it eight on Friday. They rang in the new year with a 62-50 win over Monache.
It was another big night for Kennedy Perkins, who scored 20 points along with seven rebounds and five blocks. The match was her seventh in a row with at least ten points. Koree Rodden was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with three steals.
Monache lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being London Haynes, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds. The contest was Haynes' third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jalissa Miranda, who scored 11 points.
Tehachapi has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-2 record this season. As for Monache, their defeat ended a ten-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Tehachapi will take on South at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. South will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 1099th, while Tehachapi is ranked 167th). As for Monache, they will be playing at home against Golden West at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. That game will pit two of the most dominant players against one another: Danae Banuelos and Milly Rojas.
