El Dorado is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another highly-ranked state team: Bingham, who was ranked eighth in their home state at the time (El Dorado was ranked 15th). Logan Steenburgen spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one walk in eight consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Aiden McNaughton, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Mason Kim was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
El Dorado was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .433. The last time their batting average was this high was back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, Foothill was able to grind out a solid win over Northwood on Wednesday, taking the game 6-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Knights.
Adam Ujiie looked comfortable as he pitched 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in February.
At the plate, Evrett Rycroft was a standout: he went 1-for-3 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Ezekiel Vargas, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one triple.
El Dorado has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Foothill, their win bumped their record up to 14-5.
