The St. Monica Mariners will square off against the Paraclete Spirits at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Thursday, St. Monica needed a bit of extra time to put away Bishop Montgomery. They skirted past the Knights 7-6. The win was some much needed relief for the Mariners as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.
Finley Crosby was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Crosby was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one run. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Kevin Bautista was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Andres Olmedo, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs.
Meanwhile, Paraclete won against Bosco Tech on Tuesday with 11 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. The Spirits didn't even let the Tigers on the board, marking the Spirits' second-straight 11-0 shutout. The Spirits might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matchups by six runs or more this season.
Not much got past Jacob Camas, who gave up just three hits to keep Bosco Tech off the board. Camas has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.
At the plate, Lucas Morrison was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Logan, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
Paraclete was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .310 or higher in four consecutive games.
