Baseball Recap: Drew Charter Sets Scoring Season-High Against Miller Grove

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Drew Charter). They blew past the Miller Grove Wolverines 24-1 on Tuesday. Drew Charter might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by 15 runs or more this season.

Jacob Haynes made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with four RBI, one triple, and one run. He has become a key player for Drew Charter: the team is undefeated when he posts at least three RBI, but 4-5 otherwise.

In other batting news, Josiah Rich was a standout: he scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. He is becoming a predictor of Drew Charter's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 2-5 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Myron Leonard, who scored two runs and stole Four bases. while going 2-for-3.

Drew Charter kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Drew Charter is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. Miller Grove has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season.
