Basketball Recap: Ridgeview Piles Up the Points Against Wasco

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Ridgeview). They blew past the Wasco Tigers 70-36 on Friday. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 40-13.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Ridgeview to victory, but perhaps none more so than Gabriella Ruiz-Romero, who shot 57% from the field to rack up 18 points and three steals. The Wolf Pack are 2-1 when Ruiz-Romero posts three or more steals, but 2-3 otherwise. Jazlynn Romero was another key player, dropping a double-double with ten points and 11 assists.

Ridgeview smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds every time they've taken the court this season.

The win got Ridgeview back to even at 4-4. As for Wasco, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 4-3.

Coming up, Ridgeview and Independence will face off at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday without much rest, having both just played. Wasco will take on McFarland in a holiday battle at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. This will be the Tigers' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
