After a string of three wins, Dickson's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They opened the new year with a less-than-successful 60-48 defeat to the Crooked Oak Ruf-Nex. The Comets lost against the Ruf-Nex in their previous head to head back in December of 2021, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 63-23 score last time.
Elijah Garcia was his usual excellent self, going 7 of 11 en route to 17 points along with seven assists and four steals for Crooked Oak. That's the most assists Garcia has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Alvin Dorsey, who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine boards.
Dickson's loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 6-2. As for Crooked Oak, they pushed their record up to 9-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Dickson will challenge Harrah at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
