Baseball Recap: Orange Cove Extends Home Winning Streak to Four

Orange Cove lost to Farmersville back in April, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Tuesday. The Titans put the hurt on the Aztecs with a sharp 13-3 victory. The result was nothing new for the Titans, who have now won nine matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Brandon Gonzalez was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over 5.1 innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits. Gonzalez was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Benjamin Garza was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Roman Ocejo, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs.

Orange Cove kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.6 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 12.2.

Orange Cove's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-9. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Farmersville, with the defeat, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 8-11-1.

Coming up, Orange Cove will face off against Wonderful College Prep Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Titans are facing the Wolves at the right time seeing as the Wolves are stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Farmersville, they will take on Woodlake at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Aztecs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Tigers have averaged an impressive 7.8 runs per game this season.
