Otay Ranch is on a 12-game streak of home wins, while West Hills is on a 14-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. The Otay Ranch Mustangs will host the West Hills Wolf Pack at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Otay Ranch is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They claimed a resounding 63-22 victory over Vista. Given the Mustangs' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 190th, while the Panthers are ranked 790th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Otay Ranch's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Elisa Cruz, who went 7-for-9 en route to 18 points and five boards. That's the most points Cruz has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Anaya Carter, who put up 11 points along with seven rebounds and five steals.
Otay Ranch smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in nine consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, West Hills really took it to Granite Hills for the full four quarters, racking up a 48-21 win. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Wolf Pack just coasted through the last quarter.
Otay Ranch better keep an eye on Jordan Dillon. She was instrumental in West Hills' win, almost dropping a double-double with 25 points and nine boards. Dillon is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last five games she's played. Amber Froehlich was another key player, putting up eight points in addition to ten rebounds and four blocks.
West Hills has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 15 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 27.0 points over those games. Otay Ranch's victory bumped their record up to 23-5.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Otay Ranch has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 30.5 boards per game. However, it's not like West Hills struggles in that department as they've been averaging 29.3 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Otay Ranch came out on top in a nail-biter against West Hills when the teams last played back in November of 2024, sneaking past 45-43. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Dillon, who went 8-for-16 to rack up 21 points and three steals. Now that she's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Otay Ranch still be able to contain Dillon? There's only one way to find out.
