Baseball Recap: Unity Christian Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Unity Christian had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They put the hurt on the Cornerstone Prep Academy Cougars with a sharp 10-3 win on Monday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 4-3 back in March.

Asher Trammell made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits (and not a single walk). He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Unity Christian is 3-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 1-6 otherwise. Trammell was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jax Huskins, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI and two doubles. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2025. Asa Staats was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one triple.

Unity Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cornerstone Prep Academy only posted an OBP of .259.

Unity Christian's victory bumped their record up to 4-7. As for Cornerstone Prep Academy, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-10.

Looking ahead, Unity Christian will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Horizon Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. The Lions' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Warriors have averaged an impressive 9.1 runs per game this season. As for Cornerstone Prep Academy, they will challenge Pinecrest Academy on Friday.
