Coastal HomeSchool and Lowcountry Wildcats Athletics are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2020, but likely not for long. The Hurricanes are taking a road trip to challenge the Wildcats at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Coastal HomeSchool is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.
On Friday, Coastal HomeSchool didn't have quite enough to beat Augusta E and fell 6-5.
Coastal HomeSchool saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jace Poppell, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. Troy DeVoe was another, going 2-for-4 with two runs.
Meanwhile, Lowcountry Wildcats Athletics had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They put the hurt on First Baptist School with a sharp 14-4 win on Thursday. Considering the Wildcats have won nine games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
The team relied heavily on Grayson K, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs and one RBI. Lowcountry Wildcats Athletics is undefeated when K posts two or more runs, but 8-11 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Damien Lambert, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Lowcountry Wildcats Athletics now has a winning record of 12-11. As for Coastal HomeSchool, their loss dropped their record down to 16-16.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Saturday as neither team is afraid to steal. Coastal HomeSchool has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Lowcountry Wildcats Athletics struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Coastal HomeSchool beat Lowcountry Wildcats Athletics 7-4 in their previous meeting two weeks ago. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hurricanes since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
