Rye is 0-7 against Buena Vista since October of 2015 but things could change on Friday. The Thunderbolts will welcome the Demons at 7:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Rye comes in on four and Buena Vista on six.
If Rye beats Buena Vista with 14 points on Friday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. The Thunderbolts sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 14-12 win over Ellicott on Friday.

Rye found their leader in freshman Brady Baumgartner, who rushed for 37 yards and a pair of scores, and also threw for 121 yards on six of 17 attempts. Jackson Bjorum helped out on the ground, rushing for 90 yards.
Meanwhile, Buena Vista took their contest on Saturday with ease, bagging a 54-15 victory over Steamboat Springs. The Demons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by 39 points or more this season.
Buena Vista's win came from a few key players Rye will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Hudson Wingo, who threw for 115 yards and three TDs on only ten passes, and also punched in one touchdown on the ground. What's more, he racked up 18 rushing yards, the most he's had since back in September of 2024. Eli Schuknecht was another key player, rushing for 98 yards and a pair of scores on only seven carries.
Buena Vista was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 274 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Steamboat Springs only rushed for 95.
Special teams was a major factor in the game for Buena Vista, racking up 12 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Caleb Pierce, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.
Rye's win bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Buena Vista, their victory bumped their record up to 6-0.
Friday's game will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Bjorum and Schuknecht. Bjorum just won't slow down this season and has averaged 111 rushing yards per game. Schuknecht has been a dominant force too and has run in 6 touchdowns while averaging 76.7 rushing yards per game.
