The Monroe Vikings will square off against the Eagle Rock Eagles at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Monroe is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.
On Saturday, Monroe got the win against Vaughn by a conclusive 12-2. The result was nothing new for the Vikings, who have now won five games by eight runs or more so far this season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Eagle Rock). They were the clear victors by an 11-4 margin over Fairfax on Monday.
Grayson Sugi and Noah Higuera Reyes made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Sugi tossed 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Meanwhile, Higuera Reyes pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. At the plate, Sugi got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base, while Higuera Reyes got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
In other pitching news, Odin Tuntland looked comfortable as he pitched 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
Back at the plate, Beckett Walker and Jake Sugi did most of the damage at the plate: Walker got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double, while Sugi went 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most runs Sugi has posted since back in March of 2025. Gabriel Melero also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Eagle Rock always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .614. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Monroe's victory bumped their record up to 7-0. As for Eagle Rock, their win bumped their record up to 2-3.
Monroe skirted past Eagle Rock 7-6 when the teams last played back in March of 2025. Do the Vikings have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
