Norton Science & Language Academy extended their losing streak to five on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 1-11 in the process. They came up short against the Cornerstone Christian Crusaders, falling 21-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Crusaders this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-0 last Friday.
As for Cornerstone Christian, they pushed their record up to 18-5 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The result was nothing new for the Crusaders, who have now won 16 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
For Cornerstone Christian's part, Dylan Kelly and Jayden Soto made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Kelly pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Soto pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances. At the plate, Kelly went 4-for-5 with one home run, three stolen bases, and three runs, while Soto went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. With that strong performance, Kelly is now averaging an impressive 1 stolen bases per game.
In other batting news, Cornerstone Christian let David Meinardus and Josh May run wild. Meinardus went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while May went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those three hits gave May a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Alec O'Sullivan, who went 3-for-5 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Coincidentally, Norton Science & Language Academy and Cornerstone Christian will both be playing Crossroads Christian the next time they take the field. The Crusaders will host the Warriors at 2:45 a.m. on Friday, while the Rockets will host them at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
