Western won the last time they faced Santa Ana Valley and things went their way on Friday too. The Pioneers came out on top against the Falcons by a score of 7-3. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Pioneers.

Moises Holguin made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Marley Holguin, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Carlos Tec-Moo, who earned two runs and three stolen bases.

Western's record is now 8-6. As for Santa Ana Valley, they are on an 11-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-13.

Looking ahead, Western will head out on the road to challenge Southlands Christian at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Santa Ana Valley, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Magnolia at 3:00 p.m. on the 14th.
