The La Joya Community Fighting Lobos will head out on the road to face off against the Desert Edge Scorpions at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
La Joya Community's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They took a hard 73-55 fall against Westview. La Joya Community has struggled against Westview recently, as their matchup on Tuesday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Josiah Hale, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. Another player making a difference was Isaiah Carter, who scored ten points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Desert Edge's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They were dealt a 78-48 loss at the hands of Canyon View. While losing is never fun, Desert Edge can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 110th, while Canyon View is ranked 13th).
La Joya Community has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-16 record this season. As for Desert Edge, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-8.
La Joya Community suffered a grim 79-56 defeat to Desert Edge when the teams last played back in November of 2023. Can La Joya Community avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
