Softball Recap: Stratford Academy Wins Going Away Against Pinewood Christian + How To Watch

Stratford Academy lost to Pinewood Christian back in August of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. The Eagles were the clear victors by a 12-6 margin over the Patriots. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won three games by six runs or more so far this season.

Cordtney Galoia was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched seven innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off three home runs and seven RBI while going 4-for-5.

In other batting news, Knox Moore was a standout: she got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs and one RBI. Kylee Shelley also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

Stratford Academy lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in October of 2024.

The win made it two in a row for Stratford Academy and bumps their season record up to 3-5. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.5 runs over those games. As for Pinewood Christian, they dropped their record down to 2-7 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight at home.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Stratford Academy will take on Piedmont Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cougars have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.44 runs per game on average), something the Eagles will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Pinewood Christian, they will square off against Citizens Christian Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Pinewood Christian's pitchers better be ready for this one: Citizens Christian Academy has averaged an impressive 9 runs per game this season.
