Cedar Creek is a perfect 6-0 against McCallum since March of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Cedar Creek Eagles will square off against the McCallum Knights at 7:00 p.m. Cedar Creek will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.
Having struggled with 17 losses in a row dating back to last season, Cedar Creek turned things around against Navarro on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Vikings 19-18. The Eagles' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
A Mata and O Prokop did most of the damage at the plate: Mata went 3-for-6 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI, while Prokop went 4-for-5 with six RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those hits were Mata's first of the season. Another player making a difference was P Faske, who scored three runs and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-3.
They weren't the only ones working in the hit department: Cedar Creek kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in February of 2024.
Meanwhile, McCallum hadn't done well against Anderson recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. McCallum blew past Anderson 14-3. Considering the Knights have won three games by more than ten runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Natalie Myrick was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 13 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Myrick was also stellar in the batter's box, going 4-for-5 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Grace Yemington, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. Lila Brotherton was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-5.
Cedar Creek's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-13. As for McCallum, the win got them back to even at 4-4.
Everything went Cedar Creek's way against McCallum in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, as Cedar Creek made off with an 11-2 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Cedar Creek since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
